President & Founder of ACT by Vidal
Shelley-Anne Vidal (she/her/hers) CDP, MA, is the president and founder of Affirming Community Together (ACT) by Vidal. Shelley is an author, educator, fertility coach and career coach who comes from a family of entrepreneurs. She is happy to follow in the footsteps of her late grandfather, Julian Vidal,an entrepreneur who was really committed to supporting his family. As a first generation born Canadian whose parents immigrated to Canada from Trinidad and Tobago, Shelley has always had a sincere compassion and respect for the journey that new immigrants face.
For over a decade Shelley has been passionate about supporting others in the area of education, activism and career/business coaching. She considers herself a lifelong learner and knowledge seeker who enjoys learning about intercultural leadership, intercultural communication, social justice, anti-racism and how to bring communities together.
Shelley earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership (Royal Roads University). Prior to that, she completed my Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Sociology while studying in the U.S. (Cheyney University). She has recently completed her Executive Coaching certificate at Royal Roads University.
Since learning the importance of community service and advocacy as a child, Shelley continues to enjoy being involved in various passion projects that bring people together as well as amplify the voices and accomplishments of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC). In 2021 she partnered with Shalyma Cambridge to create Kaiso Careers so they could amplify the voices and work of BIPOC people. Some of her board experiences include The Langara Faculty Association, the Black Business Association of BC (Advisory Board), as well as Sisters Leading Sisters (Advisory Board).
When Shelley is not caring for her young daughter, or teaching and supporting community activism, she enjoys meeting new people, travelling and going for walks.
